Engagement Update

All of you may be wondering when we're finally going to make it official? Well, it's been a long, tough road but we've decided to get married sometime before the end of the year. We're still deciding if Judi will add another hyphen to her name, making this her second hyphen, take on Orr as her only last name, or if I will just adopt her last name, hyphens and all. Either way, one of us is getting a new last name by the end of the year!
Judi has been in California, starting a new job as a high school government and history teacher. In the mean time, I have kept my nose to the grindstone at the Monitor, enjoying great success with my election blog. As with any election, this one has been quite exciting but it has kept us on opposite sides of the country and apart from each other for too long. So, what better way to finish up this hectic year than by marrying your best friend? If we can make it through this past year, then we can make it through anything. Thanks for all of your well wishes and we will be certain to keep everyone notified about the big event.
In the meantime, you can check out my fantasy football blog -- and of course, Judi is a part of that. http://orrfootball.com

Our First Beantown New Year at the Wayside Inn

After nearly two years of dating, we are finally engaged! We've been talking about where we are going to get married, and this is the frontrunner -- Longellow's Wayside Inn in Sudbury, Massachusetts.

Judi and I spent Thanksgiving together in the snowy weather of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Jimmy flew out from Boston, MA and Judi and her kids flew out from Vacaville, CA.

We spent time with family for a few days and put up the Christmas tree. A big snowstorm the Tuesday before Thanksgiving meant that Judi's kids - who never get any snow in California - got to experience a real Wyoming winter.

One day after Thanksgiving (November 23), at approximately 2:30pm Judi and Jimmy got engaged at Vedauwoo, Wyoming. It was a chilly 17 degrees with wind chills making the temperature hover around zero.

How better to ask for one's hand in marriage than to quote Sylvester Stallone from Rocky I. That's what I did when I asked Judi. I said, "Quoting Rocky Balboa, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind marrying me too much." This was a photo from when I worked as Governor Schwarzenegger's E-Communications Director. Sylvester Stallone was in the office last year as he gave the Governor's staff a sneak preview of his latest movie, "Rocky Balboa."

It was in Governor Schwarzenegger's Office (the mailroom) where Jimmy and Judi first met. They mainly talked about sports in their first conversation. Jimmy claims that Judi instantly confessed her undying love for him; however, the TRUE story is QUITE different according to Judi! Regardless of how they met, the duo has been inseparable in mind and spirit regardless or "irregardless" of how many miles separate them.
